Foundation Briefings May 1st

Good morning,

Today is May 1, the beginning of the beautiful month of Mary, our Blessed Mother. In the Gospel, we hear the words:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”

— Luke 1:46-47

Mary shows us what it means to trust, to surrender, and to live with joy. In the busyness of our days, in moments of stress or uncertainty, we go to her. She gently leads us to her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through her, we place everything into His hands. She reminds us that we are never alone, and that grace is always at work when we say yes to God.
This morning, I invite you to join us in our chapel for Morning Mass at 7:45 AM. A heartfelt thank you to Good Shepherd Church, and to Father Augustine, Father Francis, and Father Edwin for their love and dedication to our school community. We are truly blessed by their presence.
We are also prayerfully seeking a speaker for our Golf Tournament on May 14. Our program has touched many lives. There are beautiful stories of families who, in a moment of need, were uplifted and experienced the joy and the beauty of Saint John Paul II Academy. These stories matter. They inspire. They open hearts. If you know someone who would be willing to share their story, we would be so grateful. Their success stories are our stories, and they help others say yes to supporting this mission.
We continue to welcome tours of our school. Our facility is truly a gift, and we are opening it to the community. If you or someone you know is looking for space, we have availability in our gym, our learning commons, and classrooms, especially as we move toward the summer months. This is an important source of support for our school, and we would be grateful for your help in spreading the word.
We have a Carnival meeting today at 4:00 PM. You are welcome to join us in the boardroom or by Zoom. Please let me know if you need the link, or you may connect with Italia. There is great excitement as we prepare for this joyful community event.
There is still time to join us for golf on May 14. We are looking forward to a beautiful day together. If you have not yet secured your tickets, please let us know. All proceeds from these efforts go directly toward supporting our students and families. Your support truly makes a difference.
On safety, we want to gently but clearly reinforce the importance of participation in our school evacuation drills. In the event of a real emergency, every person matters. Every name must be accounted for. We are asking all Foundation team members, volunteers, and those under our care to follow the instructions given during drills, including evacuating and proceeding to the designated muster point unless otherwise directed.
We will take responsibility to ensure clear communication ahead of the May 20 drill, so that everyone understands what to do. We will also begin implementing a simple and structured process to track all Foundation personnel, volunteers, contractors, and visitors, as we continue to grow.
Thank you to Bernadette Yuson for her care and diligence in this important area. We are grateful for your leadership and look forward to working together to ensure we are aligned and serving our community well.
A special note of excitement, the e bike for the Carnival was showcased yesterday in the foyer. Thank you to Italia and Holly for going into every classroom to share the excitement with the students, distribute the raffle tickets, and explain how it all works. The energy and joy were beautiful to see.
Students are encouraged to participate by selling their raffle booklets. The student who sells the most booklets will receive a cash prize for Amazon. The classroom that sells the most will enjoy a pizza party together. In addition, for every booklet sold, the student’s name will be entered into a draw to win a spirit wear hoodie. This is such a joyful and engaging way for our students to take part in supporting our school. Please continue to spread the word.
As we begin this month dedicated to our Blessed Mother, let us walk together in faith, in joy, and in trust. Let us bring everything to Mary, and through her, offer it to Jesus.

“Do whatever He tells you.”

— John 2:5

With hearts full of hope, this is a time of grace, a time of community, and a time of joy.
God bless you all.
