Good morning everyone,
As we continue through this beautiful Month of Mother Mary, our hearts naturally begin to turn toward Mother’s Day and the great gift of motherhood. Throughout Sacred Scripture, we see the tenderness, humility, and strength of Our Blessed Mother. In the Gospel of Luke, we hear the beautiful words:
“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”
— Luke 1:46-47
Mary’s life was one of faith, trust, sacrifice, love, and hope. She reminds us that even in moments of uncertainty, we are never alone when we place our hearts in the hands of Jesus Christ. During this Month of Mary, we honour not only Our Blessed Mother, but also all mothers, grandmothers, spiritual mothers, and all women who nurture others with love, compassion, and faith. Motherhood reflects the love of God in such a powerful and beautiful way.
This morning we are blessed to begin our day with Mass at 7:45 AM in the chapel. What a beautiful way to start the morning, placing Christ at the center of our lives before anything else. Thank you to Good Shepherd Church, Father Augustine, Father Francis, and Father Edwin for your continued love, prayers, and support of our school community. We are deeply grateful.
This morning, a group of our students, along with Mr. Walters and Mr. Mark Wilkie, will be attending the Prayer Breakfast. The theme centers around mental health, sanctuary, and the importance of keeping Christ and our faith at the center of every conversation and every struggle. The word sanctuary itself is so beautiful. A sanctuary is a place of peace, refuge, healing, safety, and prayer. In many ways, Jesus Christ becomes our sanctuary. In moments of anxiety, sadness, confusion, or fear, we are invited to rest in Him. Our Catholic faith reminds us that we never carry our burdens alone. Christ walks beside us, strengthens us, and gives us hope.
Last night, we were truly blessed to attend the Leadership Dinner where we were inspired by Catholic singer Matt Maher and speaker Bryana Russell. Matt Maher’s music has touched hearts all around the world because it speaks honestly about faith, suffering, hope, and the love of God. One particularly beautiful song shared was Only Good Will Grow. The message behind the song reminds us that when we plant seeds of goodness, kindness, faith, mercy, forgiveness, and love, God brings beautiful things to life. Even during difficult seasons, God is still working quietly within us. Only good rooted in Christ will truly last and grow. What a hopeful and powerful reminder for all of us.
The theme of the evening was hope. Hope is not simply wishful thinking. Hope is trusting that Jesus Christ is present even when life is difficult. Hope is believing that goodness, light, healing, and love are always stronger than darkness. Our Blessed Mother lived with this kind of hope every single day. She trusted God completely, even when she did not fully understand the path before her. During this Month of Mary, may we ask Our Mother to guide us closer to her Son and help us become people of greater peace, joy, courage, and faith.
Today we continue this beautiful month with our Mother’s Day Mass at the school. There is something so special and sacred about gathering together as a community for Mass. It reminds us that we belong to one another and that Christ is truly present among us. As we honour mothers during this celebration, may we also remember the countless sacrifices, prayers, quiet acts of love, and unwavering support that mothers give each and every day. They are truly a gift from God.
Just for your information, this afternoon at 1:30 PM, Mr. Bill Regan will be walking through the facilities with consultants. You may notice individuals on campus today who are not part of our immediate school community.
As always, thank you to all of our teachers, staff, volunteers, families, clergy, and supporters who continue to make this community so faith filled, loving, and special. Your kindness, dedication, sacrifice, and prayers help shape the hearts and minds of the students each day. We are truly blessed to walk together as one Catholic community rooted in Christ.
As we continue through this Month of Mother Mary and prepare for Mother’s Day, let us keep all mothers in our prayers today. May Our Blessed Mother watch over them, guide them, protect them, and fill their hearts with peace and joy.
Let us conclude together with the Hail Mary.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
