Policy: Admission rules are established to ensure that all Catholics have an equal opportunity to enroll their children in a Catholic school. Priority will be given to Catholic students seeking admission to the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese.
Procedure: As part of this process, the Principal and the Archbishop’s Representative, when practical, shall meet with every new family. From the interview and the information available to them they will decide if the school can meet the needs of the students and whether the family and the student can meet the requirements of the school. Such families will be accepted according to the established priorities. For purposes of this policy, ‘practicing Catholics’ shall mean those individuals who are registered and active in a parish, and attend Sunday Mass regularly.
Admittance Priorities for St. John Paul II Academy
Children presently enrolled in the school if they and their families meet the expectations of the school.
1. Siblings of children already in the school.
2. Children whose families are practicing Catholics active in one of the parishes of the Archdiocese.
3. As per CISVA policy, a limited number of positions will be made available to non-Catholic applicants at the discretion of the Administration.
Can I enroll my son or daughter immediately at St. John Paul II Academy?
Yes, absolutely. We are presently asking all families interested in securing a place in Gr. 8, 9 & 10 in Sept. 2020 and subsequent years to participate in the school’s Enrollment Deposit Program.
Non-Catholic and International Students
Non-Catholic families or the families of International Students not attending a Catholic elementary school are asked to contact the Principal, Mr. Michel DesLauriers and set up a meeting prior to possible acceptance into St. John Paul II Academy.
Families interested in sending their child(ren) to St. John Paul II Academy should complete a Pre-registration form found at http://www.sjp2academy.com/admission/register.
St. John Paul II Bursary
In the spirit of the St. John Paul II who dedicated a considerable portion of his ministry to the service of youth, St. John Paul II Academy strives to provide financial assistance to families who may be unable to pay full tuition. Families may be able to apply for a bursary once their child has been accepted into St. John Paul II Academy. All applications are held in strict confidence.
An independent financial service will be utilized initially to provide an arm’s length and objective assessment of a family’s financial position to help determine the level of bursary required. This analysis is provided to the school in confidence and all final decisions determining the level of assistance will be made by St. John Paul II Academy.
For more information please contact the Principal, on a confidential basis at: 604.560.8208 or firstname.lastname@example.org

Tuition – Fee Structure 2020-21 & Bursary Information
The tuition for the school year is $6,700 for students (where the student is eligible for Ministry of Education block funding). The tuition rate for International students is $17,500.00. St. John Paul II Academy will issue a charitable donation tax receipt for the religious portion of the tuition. The exact amount is determined annually following the guidelines set down by the Canada Revenue Agency.
Refundable Enrollment Deposit Program
The Refundable Enrollment Deposit program asks the families of students accepted into St. John Paul II Academy to contribute $25 000 to the school that will be returned to the family when their child graduates or leaves the school. By introducing this program these funds can be used to help secure bank financing for the school’s construction. While these funds are being held by the school an interest payment to the family will be made on an annual basis for the duration that these funds are held. The Refundable Enrollment Deposit form can be downloaded at this link.
“If you haven’t had a chance to hear Troy Van Vliet speak, please attend the next info session. Also, do some research on this website and be accurately informed. Troy is very compelling and you can see and hear for yourself all the backing he has from the team he’s put together. But also, he needs our help…this school needs funds to get off the ground. At first, the bond of $25 000 seemed daunting. We will have to make family compromises when our girls start at SJP II Academy but it’s well worth it to us for our children to have the best Catholic education and be formed into the best versions of themselves as they grow and mature.”
