Just as the inaugural class of grade 8 students who walk through the doors of St. John Paul II Academy in September 2018 will need to find their way and help set the tone for the school, so too does the administration needs to work to define all of the local policies that will be required to manage and run the school.
St. John Paul II Academy will be managed and run as a Catholic Independent School of the Archdiocese of Vancouver (CISVA). As such the policies that govern other CISVA schools will apply to St. John Paul II Academy. There will be, however, instances where some form of accommodation to current CISVA policy will be needed that reflects the school’s non-regional nature.
Work is now underway by the new Principal to begin establishing local policy for the new school. The first policy that has required some accommodation with current CISVA policy is that of Admissions owing to the non-regional character of the school. Other policies that are being reviewed include those for establishing the Parent Education Committee. This work of revising CISVA policy as well as defining local school policy will be ongoing in the lead up to the school opening its doors in September 2018. CISVA school policies can be accessed here.
